WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Kinard hits 29, Barrs nears quad-double in Cards’ road win

Moe Kinard scored 29 points Wednesday, but that was not the most impressive statistic for the Lamar women’s basketball team.

Chastadie Barrs was one assist away from a quadruple-double, as she and Kinard led Lamar to a 79-57 win at the University of New Orleans on Wednesday. Barrs totaled 17 points, 12 steals, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

Lamar (10-4, 3-0 Southland), the defending regular-season conference champion, hardly had this game in doubt, leading 20-9 through one quarter, 41-29 at halftime and 58-44 through three. The Cards shot 30 for 68 from the floor, including a dismal 4 for 27 from three-point range, and made 15 of 24 free throws.

Rehema Franklin led UNO (4-8, 0-3) with 12 points and Shania Woods added 11.

Lamar will host Central Arkansas at 2 p.m. Saturday.
