Polly Thomas, age 100, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018, at home.  She was born on January 3, l918 in Lindale, Texas to Julius and Carrie Corley and was also raised by her step-mother Peggy Corley.  She grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.  She married Lewis E. Thomas on September 28, 1936, and remained married for 57 years until his death in 1994.

In addition to being a devoted, patient, loving mother, she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Port Neches, Texas and also served in many ways as a member of the Church of Living Waters in Beaumont, Texas.  She is known by many for her servant’s heart and how she exemplified the power of Jesus’ love every day of her life.  She was also well-known for her extraordinary cooking abilities and her love for writing, especially poetry.

She is survived by sister, Louise Leach of Port Arthur, TX; sister, Theda Morton of Anacortes, WA; son, James D. Thomas and wife, CJ, of Stillwater, OK; daughter, Wanda Sue Blanton and husband, Don, of Groves, TX; son, Benny R. Thomas and wife, Sandy, of Sour Lake, TX; son, Tommy W. Thomas of Lindale, TX; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She will be forever remembered by her extensive family and dear friends.

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Benny R. Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.

Polly requested donations be given to Samaritan’s Purse or other children’s charities in lieu of flowers.
