A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted John Ross Hutson, 22, for indecency with a child and attempted indecency with a child, both third-degree state felonies, for an incident last summer involving a 12-year-old girl.

In a probable cause affidavit, Hutson, who lived in Groves, was accused of luring the girl to his apartment Aug. 28 by inviting her to swim with his female cousins at his apartment complex. When she arrived, only Hutson was present, the affidavit said.

The victim told investigators that Hutson appeared naked before her in the apartment and unsuccessfully attempted to convince the child to bathe with him. He also tried to pull down her pants but could not because the waist was too tight.

At an interview, the investigator said Hutson told him he had asked the child to draw him nude.
