Ury “Braq” Braquet

Ury “Braq” Braquet, 92, of Groves, Texas passed away August 28, 2018 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

“Braq” was born August 16, 1926 in Loreauville, Louisiana to Laurent Braquet and Stella Barras Braquet.  He was a resident of Groves for 63 years and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

“Braq” retired after 32 years as a general contractor and home builder. He was a volunteer for 30 years at the Hospitality Center and was very involved at his church. He received the Volunteer of The Year award from the Sertoma Club.

He proudly served in the Merchant Marines, and was stationed in France with the U.S. Army where he was an interpreter.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd Braquet and L. J. Braquet.

Survivors include his wife of 57 ½ years, Mary Lynn Braquet of Groves; daughters, Gail Gleckler of Clear Lake, Suzette Braquet of Sugar Land, Si’Mone Braquet of Sugar Land; step-daughter, Roxie Struebing and husband Neil of Canyon Lake; son, Tod Braquet of Port Neches; step-son, Curtis Colicher and wife Crystal of Lumberton; sister, Janet Thibodeaux and husband Roy of Loreauville, LA; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., December 1, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend J. C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
