The Nederland Veterans’ Day ceremony on Friday has been canceled due to expected bad weather.

The city of Nederland released a statement saying the decision to cancel the 10:30 a.m. event came after reviewing the weather forecast, which included rain and thunderstorms.

Still at issue was if the city would cancel Sunday’s Veterans’ Day event, which was to include a picnic and parade, concert and a fireworks show.

The fireworks show was added to the Veterans’ Day program after the July 4 show was rained out.
