Two down, five more to go.

Hamshire-Fannett’s second win in the UIL 4A volleyball playoffs went like the first — a sweep. The Longhorns beat Columbia 25-18, 25-14, 25-21 Thursday at the Houston ISD Barnett Sports Complex, and they will take on Huffman in the Region III quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Monday at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu.

Shawnee Craigen had 13 kills and 10 digs to lead the Longhorns (27-12), who won the District 22-4A championship. Chloe McLeod added nine kills and 11 digs, Lexi Frazier three kills and three blocks, Shelly Carroll five kills, Caroline Ogden 29 digs and Zoey Arceneaux 20 assists and 10 digs.

Should Hamshire-Fannett win Monday, the Longhorns will advance to the regional semifinals at Bryan High School. That round is scheduled for Nov. 9, with the title game the next day.

In Class 3A, Orangefield defeated Anderson-Shiro 25-20, 23-25, 25-15, 25-18 at Crosby High School and will take on East Bernard in the Region III quarters at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lee College in Baytown.

Devany Crain and Bailee Click each had 12 kills to lead Orangefield (31-9). Mackenzie Davis and Faith Fregia each added 24 digs, and Tiffany Ciancaglione had 23 assists in the win.

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, Port Neches-Groves (33-6) will face Richmond Foster (33-8) in a 5A area round match at Channelview High School’s Bill Neal Center. That winner will meet either Fort Bend Hightower or Santa Fe for the right to advance to the Region III semis at Houston ISD’s Delmar Fieldhouse.
