Charles Morris Perkins

Charles Morris Perkins, 91, of Timpson, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Born December 7, 1926, in Redland, Texas to the late John Lester and Irene Elizabeth (Burnett) Perkins.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Timpson, Texas, with Rev. Matt Cecil and Jean Ferrero officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.  Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Timpson,Texas. 

Morris was born and raised in Redland, Texas.  After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marines and served his country for several years.  When he returned from service, Morris attended Stephen F. Austin State University, achieving a Masters Degree in History and Geography.  He met the love of his life, Peggy Julian, and the two were married on February 23, 1951, spending more than 67  wonderful years together. 

He spent over 37 years in the teaching and administrative role in the Port Neches Independent school system. Morris enjoyed spending time on the farm while his health would allow, geneology, church choir, poetry, and traveling whenever possible.  He was a member of the PTA, NEA, Toastmaster, Fun Travelers, and Rotary Club.  Morris was an active member of First United Methodist Church Timpson.

Morris is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Julian Perkins; sons, David Burnett Perkins and wife Michelle, James Calvin Perkins, William Hardin Perkins; grandchildren, Sarah Perkins, Johnathon Perkins, Hannah Perkins, Phillip Perkins; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Lester and Irene Elizabeth (Burnett) Perkins; son, Phillip Julian Perkins; and seven siblings.
