Port Arthur police said Monday they were investigating a late night Sunday shooting on 15^th Street, a residential area near Gulfway Drive and Galveston Avenue.

In an issued statement, police said the lone victim, a 39-year-old man, was shot once to the abdomen. The shooting occurred at 2048 15^th St. at 10:19 p.m., police said.

The victim was taken to Southeast Texas Medical Center, then transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with life-threatening injuries.

Port Arthur Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
