The five were sought after three young men, two with handguns, robbed the clerk of money and cigarettes at Major Drive Food Mart, 870 S. Major, around 1:07 p.m. Witnesses said the three, described only as black males, fled in a dark, older model Chevy Tahoe, headed west on Landis.

Beaumont Police detectives and the Special Assignments Unit responded and detained the suspects after they were stopped. Police said evidence from the robbery was in the vehicle and on the suspects’ person. The five were transported to the Beaumont station and all five suspects were arrested.

Julian Thomas Owens, 19, was the sole adult arrested. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where no bond was set Friday morning.
