SWIMMING: Six Golden Triangle entries qualify for nationals

Vincent Fletcher won two events and qualified for a national meet in another to lead a contingent of six Golden Triangle Swim Association entries that advanced from the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation state meet this past weekend in College Station.

Fletcher won the 100-yard and 50-yard freestyles in the men’s 15- to 17-year-old division. He broke a state record that was set in 2008 in the 100-yard race.

Fletcher was also second in the 50-yard butterfly.

Also for Golden Triangle, Jayde Morgan won the girls 8-under 100-yard individual medley and came in second in the 50-yard freestyle; Dalton Dishman took third place in both the boys 8-under 50- and 25-yard freestyles; Isaac Prescod was third in the boys 8-under 100-yard individual medley; the girls 8-under 100-yard medley relay team of Emma Gilby, Alexandria MacNeil, Jayde and Kayleigh Robinson came in third and the boys 11-12 200-yard medley relay team of Donovan Chaney, Andrew Neireiter, Brandt Meaux and Damian Garcia was third.

The athletes will swim at the State Games of America in Lynchburg, Virginia, which will begin Wednesday and conclude Saturday.
