Filings begin for PN-G and school board seats

Filing for seats on Groves and Port Neches city councils and Port Neches-Groves Independent School District begins Monday.

The terms for Ward 2 and Ward 4 councilmembers, the mayor and city marshal are expiring and the city is calling a special election to recall a councilmember — all of which would take place Nov. 6.

Ward 2 Councilmember Karen Theis said earlier in the month that she would run for re-election while Ward 4 Councilmember Kyle Hollier was undecided.

Groves Police City Marshal Norman Reynolds Jr., who is finishing his second term, said he will run for reelection.

Groves Mayor Brad Bailey said he would seek reelection.

Port Neches

The seats currently held by Mayor Glenn Johnson and Councilmember Place 4 Robert Arnold are up for grabs. For more information on how to file, call the city secretary’s office at 727-2182.

Seats are at-large.

PNGISD

Three seats are up for grabs in PNGISD and include the Place 1 seat held by Scott Bartlett, Place 2 seat held by Lana Parker and Place 3 seat held by Eric Sullivan.

Individuals may pick up candidate packets or return completed applications to the superintendent’s office between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 27.

After July 27, it will be 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p. m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

The last day to file an application is Aug. 20 and the office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day.
