Gustavo Arredondo

Gustavo Arredondo, 89, of Nederland, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his home.

He was born on December 5, 1928 to his parents, Epigmenio Arredondo, Sr. and Ismaela Maldonado Arredondo in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico. He has been a resident of the area for most of his life. Gustavo served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He retired from Texaco as a field engineer after 40 years of service. Gustavo was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. He was a sports enthusiast, member of the O.C.A.W. Local 4-24 and a lifetime democrat.

Gustavo was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Hortensia Flores, Pauline Theriot, Zulema Martinez, his brother, Epigmenio Arredondo, Jr. and his wife, Rita Barbosa Arredondo.

He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Arredondo of Nederland, his son, Marty Arredondo and his wife, Laura of Beaumont, six grandchildren, Holly Jurgens and husband, Curtis, Sean Suarez, Larry “L.G.”  Suarez, Shelby Suarez, Chelsea Arredondo and Clara Arredondo along with 15 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Gustavo’s life will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
