Mavelyn Joy Jones, 83, of Nederland died Sunday, July 1st, 2018 at Magnolia Manor rehabilitation center in Groves.
A lifetime resident of “The Groves”, Joy enjoyed a long and loving marriage to Frankie D. Jones, together parents to one devoted son, Dean Jones, both of whom have preceded her in death.
Joy was born February 21, 1935 as the only child of Ernest and Ella (Erickson) Robisheaux, politically active business owners of their time.
Joy was a pianist, playing at local churches and events, and she loved teaching piano lessons. She fondly remembers each of her students and surely, they remember her, for the gift she gave them and everyone she encountered – her endearing smile and easy, infectious laughter- is unforgettable. Joy lived up to her name, sharing her passion for color in design and fashion, spreading joy and brightening the lives of all those near her.
She and Frankie enjoyed Square Dancing together for many years and she loved the memories of those days. Joy was also an avid Bridge player and was a member of many bridge groups over the years. Joy was also a talented artist and painter.
Joy is the last of her bloodline; still she is survived by many friends and loved ones, and she will be truly missed! Thanks to all the caregivers at Magnolia Manor.
A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Johnathan Bynum officiating. Burial will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
