A resident of Orange died Wednesday after he was struck by a pick-up truck around 4:45 a.m.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said in an issued statement that Jesse Darrel Gregg, 58, was walking in the right, northbound traffic lane of Highway 87 near Highway 62 when the vehicle-pedestrian collision occurred. The DPS statement said the truck, driven by a Vidor man, 64, was also headed north.

Justice of the Peace Joy Dubose-Simonton pronounced Gregg dead at the scene.

The investigation was continuing, the statement said.
