Rain may taper off by afternoon

Some 4-8 inches of rain has fallen across parts of Southeast Texas, and 2-4 more inches were expected to fall Tuesday morning, said Roger Erickson, warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service Lake Charles.

Erickson said rain should taper off in the afternoon, but a flash flood warning will continue for most of Jefferson County and parts of Orange County.

No problems were reported at Drainage District No. 7 Tuesday morning.

“The water is flowing, we have diesel, the supervisors are in the field,” said an employee who answered the phone.
