Romona Chenier Bellard

Romona Chenier Bellard, 62, passed away with God’s grace on May 29, 2018. She was born October 18, 1955 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Shirley Berrod and Morris Chenier. She lived in Crowley, Louisiana until relocating to Port Arthur, Texas with her mother and step-father Edward James Sylvester, where she lived most of her life. She was a proud member of the 1973 graduating class of Lincoln High School. Romona worked as a teacher’s assistant for the Port Arthur Independent School District for 23 years. She also worked as a senior tax preparer for over 30 years at H & R Block.  Romona was a faithful and dedicated member of Seventh Street Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for many years.

Romona was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother Winnie Cade, grandfather Alvin Berrod Sr., uncles Alvin Berrod, Jr. and Sherrod Berrod, and son, Robert Bellard II.  She is survived by her daughter Erika Bellard Hunt, sisters Edwina “Jan” Sylvester and Ruenette Bolden, four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 9, 2018 at Gabriel Funeral home, 2500 Procter St. Port Arthur Texas 77640. Visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am.
