Early morning wreck injures Silsbee man

An early-morning wreck Thursday in Hardin County sent a Silsbee man to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Troopers responded to a multiple-vehicle crash on U.S. 96, about five miles north of Silsbee, at 4:15 a.m.

Initial reports indicate that a Mack garbage truck was traveling northbound on U.S. 96 when it was rear-ended by a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Justin Dwayne Smith, 25, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Mack garbage truck was not injured.
