NEDERLAND — Nederland police are investigating a homicide in the 8100 block of Beauxart Gardens Road.

A neighbor in that area with a security system was alerted by text that her camera had went off showing two suspicious men near her home around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. She called Nederland police who checked the scene and found nothing at her residence.

  Police then checked the house next door and found a 40-year-old man dead in the living room, Assistant Chief Gary Porter said. There was no forced entry to the home and the front and rear doors were open. The incident is deemed a homicide.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 8 Tom Gillam III has called for an autopsy.

  Porter gave a description of the two men captured on the security camera saying that one was wearing a short rimmed crushable beach style hat, a flowered shirt and carrying a backpack and the other man was wearing a baseball cap with a bandana over his mouth. He asked for people in that area to check their security cameras for around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
