PORT NECHES — A friendly baseball-loving “alien lifeform” de-boarded a Houston Astros van and paid a visit to locals Saturday morning at the Neches Federal Credit Union on Nall Street.

It wasn’t Alf.

Orbit, the Astros mascot, posed for photos with a number of Astros fans still celebrating the team’s first World Series championship from last fall. He paid a visit along with the Houston Astros Shuttle Crew, which set up an inflatable pitching cage for young children, and even signed autographs.

It was the second time the Astros brought a championship celebration to Jefferson County. The Commissioner’s Trophy, presented to the World Series champion, was on display at the Mid-County H-E-B in Port Arthur and the Dowlen Road Buffalo Wild Wings in Beaumont.

Houston hosts the Oakland Athletics tonight, with first pitch at 6:10 p.m.
