PREP ROUNDUP: Titans blank Ozen; Antoine goes 3 for 3

Riyad Antoine gave Port Arthur Memorial plenty of offensive punch Tuesday.

The senior went 3 for 3 with a triple and drove in a run, leading the Titans to an 11-0 home win over Ozen.

The Titans gave plenty of run support to sophomore Josue Rodriguez, who struck out four Panthers and held them to two hits in five innings. David Torres (two RBI), Roberto Collazo (RBI) and Van Ellas each had a hit for Memorial, which visits Ozen on Friday.

 

Vidor 4, Nederland 1

VIDOR — The Pirates connected on eight hits off Braydon Credeur — who struck out 10 in a complete game — and handed the district-leading Bulldogs their first 22-5A loss of the season.

The Pirates took command with three runs in the fifth on two doubles, two singles and a walk. All four of their runs were earned.

Trenton Simon went 2 for 4 to lead Nederland (16-6-1, 8-1) at the plate. Landon Hiltz, Case Babino, Alan Underwood and Alexander Ortiz each lined a hit for the Bulldogs.

The return game is Friday at Nederland.

 

PNG 9, Lumberton 3

LUMBERTON — Each of Port Neches-Groves’ pitchers Tuesday had a hit in a road win over Lumberton.

Josh Hranicky started the game, struck out six and walked six in four innings. He allowed one earned run (three total) on two hits.

At the plate, he went 2 for 4 and drove in a run.

Khristian Curtis threw a hitless fifth inning with a strikeout and was 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored. Holden Lane worked the sixth (one strikeout, one hit) was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Carson Roccaforte fanned two in a hitless seventh while batting 3 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Cameron Stansbury, Brandon Petix and Cameron Abate each had a hit for the Indians (13-9-3, 7-2 in 22-5A), who will host the Raiders on Friday.

 

SOFTBALL

Nederland 19, Vidor 0

VIDOR — Four Nederland players each drove in three runs, led by Brittany Taylor’s 4-for-4 batting, and the Bulldogs (17-9-2, 9-3 in 22-5A) posted a big rout of the Pirates.

Taylor scored four runs in the win. Hannah Grumbles (2 for 4, two runs), Allysa Collazo (1 for 2, three runs scored) and Kristan Traxler (2 for 4) each had three RBI as well. Kallye Taylor and Destini Trahan each had three hits and batted in two runs.

Hannah Goode (two runs) had a hit, Corley Pompa scored three runs, Halle Foster crossed the plate twice and Leann Keys also scored one. Trahan struck out seven and held Vidor to two hits.

Next for Nederland is a visit to district-leading Livingston on Friday.
