William “Billy” McCray, Jr.

William “Billy” Henry McCray Jr., 84, of Sabine Pass passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018.

Billy was born on March 3, 1934 in Galveston, Texas to parents Lillian Adell (White) and William Henry McCray Sr. He had lived in Sabine Pass most of his life and was a member Assembly of God Church. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army from 1957 until 1959. Billy was a commercial fisherman for 50 years and tugboat captain with Eldridge Construction for 17 years. Some of his favorite things to do were watching western movies, listening to Willie Nelson Roadhouse radio station, going fishing, hunting and telling stories. Billy was a loving person who will be missed dearly by all.

He is preceded in death by parents; his wife, Margie A. McCray; infant son, William Robert McCray; brothers, George O’Briant McCray, John McCray; sister, Janet McCray.

Billy is survived by his, son, William Roy McCray of Sabine Pass; daughter, Roberta Sexton and her husband, Robert of Sabine Pass; brothers, Frank McCray and his wife, Connie of Lumberton; sister, Jean McIntoch of Mauriceville. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one and one on the way great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A 10 AM funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2017 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sabine Pass Cemetery.
