A woman leaving a bank Thursday was followed and her vehicle burglarized outside a doctor’s office in Port Neches.
The suspects were later arrested in Nederland.
The brazen crime happened around 9:40 a.m. outside an optometrist’s office in the 1800 block of Magnolia Avenue.
“The lady had gone to Wells Fargo in Nederland and when she left there two suspects from Beaumont followed her to Port Neches,” Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine said, adding that the woman then drove straight to the optometrist’s office. “When she went inside, the ladies at the counter heard a loud noise. The men had followed her, parked behind her car.”
After breaking her car window they “grabbed whatever they could see” and left. A partial license plate and suspect vehicle description was given to police and that’s when Nederland Police Sgt. Andy Arnold entered the picture.
Arnold heard the call on the radio and when he turned on Nederland Avenue from Twin City Highway, saw the gold colored passenger car matching the description.
“I got behind the car and the vehicle started weaving in and out of traffic in erratic manner,” Arnold said.
The sergeant activated his lights and stopped the car at Atlanta and 14th Street and realized there were two people, not one, in the car.
A second man, identified as Andrian Green, 19, of Beaumont, who was “kind of hidden” in the back seat, is believed to be the person who broke the window of the suspect’s car. The driver, identified as Justin Redeaux, 21, of Beaumont, is believed to be the driver in the crime, according to police.
Both men were arrested for burglary of a vehicle.
