NEDERLAND — Alan Underwood and Landon Hiltz each drove in three runs, and that was just a fraction of the offense Nederland produced Tuesday.

Underwood lined a triple and double and Hiltz doubled in Nederland’s 29-0 win over Beaumont Central. Hiltz, who walked twice, batted 2 for 4 and scored four runs.

Adam Roccaforte went 3 for 3 with two walks and two RBI and Underwood was 2 for 2.

Nederland (11-5-1, 3-0 in 22-5A) will visit Central on Friday, then begin a big two-game series with Port Neches-Groves next Tuesday.

 

PNG 5, Vidor 2

PORT NECHES — The Indians (9-7-3, 3-0 in 22-5A) scored three runs in the fifth to take the lead, and Josh Hranicky held the Pirates to three hits and struck out 10 in a complete-game victory.

Drake Varnado doubled on a fly ball to left field for a run to get the rally going. Holden Lane pushed across two runs on a double to give the Indians the lead.

Austin Bost and Carson Roccaforte then hit one-run singles in the sixth. PNG had seven hits.

Roccaforte and Lane each had two hits.

PNG’s return game at Vidor will be Friday.

 

Bridge City 8, Silsbee 1

SILSBEE — Luc Hollier, Justyn Romero and Jackson Tims each shelled out two hits, and Peyton Havard struck out 12 while nearly going the distance in the Cardinals’ rout of the Tigers.

Havard held Silsbee to an earned run on two hits. Romero struck out the last batter.

Bridge City (12-6-1, 1-0 in 22-4A) will host Silsbee Friday.

 

SOFTBALL

PNG 20, Central 0, 3 inn.

PORT NECHES — The Indians (11-9-1, 6-0 in 22-5A) had twice as many runs as they had hits in beating Beaumont Central.

Kasidee Sartin tripled, and Sadie Shrestha and Sydnee Adams doubled for the Indians. Brooke Smith, Shrestha and Sartin each went 2 for 2, while Callie Jourdan and Lauren Adams were 1 for 1 each.

PNG will host Livingston at 5 p.m. Friday for teacher appreciation night.

 

Livingston 7, Nederland 0

NEDERLAND — Livingston’s starting pitcher struck out 15, but six errors also plagued Nederland in a home loss.

Destini Trahan gave up only two earned runs on seven hits and struck out seven in the circle for the Bulldogs (12-8-2, 4-2 in 22-5A), but she issued six walks. Hannah Goode went 2 for 3, while Lexi Eversole and Danielle Richardson had the rest of the Bulldogs’ four hits.

Nederland will host Memorial at 6 p.m. Friday.

In soccer, Port Arthur Memorial beat Nederland 2-0, and PNG beat Livingston in a 3-0 shootout after a scoreless tie.
