A Dayton, Texas man died Friday morning after his vehicle was in collision with a truck tractor semi-trailer on State Highway 73.

A Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said Troopers received a report at about 6 a.m. of a multiple-vehicle crash on Highway 73 near Big Hill Road in Jefferson County.

Preliminary reports indicate a 2008 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling eastbound on SH 73 when the driver of the 18-wheeler slowed to make a right turn onto Wilbur Road. That’s when its trailer “was impacted” by a 2016 Chrysler passenger vehicle, the DPS said in an issued statement.
