Murder suspect David Earl Broadus is currently in police custody after turning himself in in Jasper County on Friday.

Broadus, 28, is wanted for a shooting that occurred on Jan. 25 in Port Arthur at U.S. 69 South and 39th Street that resulted in the shooting death of Jose Pompas Leal in Port Arthur.

Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said Broadus went to his office along with his parents and turned himself in without incident. He will be arraigned in Jasper County before being transferred to Jefferson County.

Port Arthur Police Lt. Martin Blitch said Broadus surrendered himself to law enforcement around 12:30 p.m.

Broadus is the second suspect in Leal’s death. Earlier this week James Joseph Levron, 25, of Port Arthur, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury.

A murder warrant was issued for Broadus in late January and by mid February the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrant Division issued a press release asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect.
