John Willie “Double J” Johnson, Jr.

John Willie Johnson Jr. was born to Marion and John Willie Johnson Sr. on October 7, 1972 in Port Arthur, TX. He answered the Master’s call and entered into eternal peace on Monday, February 5, 2018.  He was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church where he was baptized at the age of 9, by the late Pastor H.B. McCarthy.  He later worshiped with Strong Tower Ministries under the pastoral leadership of Herbert Fontnette Jr.

John was a 1991 honor graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. He attended Hill Junior College and later transferred to Texas Southern University where he continued his major in Kinesiology.  John was employed as an assistant Physical Education Coach at Tekoa Academy.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Israel and Louella Broussard Taylor, Roosevelt Smith, Murray and Nobie Jane Parham, aunts, Irene Higgins, Doretha Dever, Mildred Taylor, Veronica Parham Johnson, and uncles, Raft Dever and Michael Bell.

Forever cherishing his memories are his parents; his wife, Keisha Arceneaux-Johnson and their daughter, Siarah Elise; the Arceneaux in-laws; sisters, Javonne (Derrick) and Ja’Niyah; niece and goddaughter, DerrVonne Marie “Baby D”; uncles, Johnnie (Charlotte), Paul (Betty), Harold (Janice) Underwood, John (Cynthia) Comeaux, and Israel Taylor Jr., all of Port Arthur; aunts, Dolly Taylor Shaw (Dayton, TX), Carolyn Taylor (Port Arthur), Sarah Drake (George) Alabama, Nicky Smith (Houston, TX); special “ride or die” cousin/brother, David Chatman Jr. and his “best” cousin, Ardel Chatman; other godchildren, Isaiah Jacobs, Kameron Martin, Jada Chatman, and a host uncles, aunts, great uncles, great aunts, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Rock Island Baptist Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
