Julia “Dottie” Fredeman

Julia “Dottie” Fredeman, age 75, of Groves, Texas passed away February 7, 2018 in Houston, Texas.  Dottie was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 28, 1942 to the late Ashley Newton Denton, III and Molly Johnston Denton.

Dottie was known as being a witty writer, a loyal friend, and a devoted wife.  She was a member of Port Arthur Historical Society and the past president of the Service League of Port Arthur.  Dottie was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of many other area organizations.  Dottie graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in English and History; and attended South Texas School of Law.

Dottie is survived by her daughter, Julia Collins and her husband, Troy of Lumberton, Texas; her grandson, Denton Collins; her brother-in-law, William F. Fredeman, Jr. and his wife Karen of Nederland, Texas; and a host of nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Frank Fredeman, II; and her sister, Molly Denton Yates.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.  A funeral service will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
