John W. Pitrey

John W. Pitrey, 69, of Port Acres, TX passed away suddenly on December 29, 2017, at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield, Oregon. John was born February 7, 1948, to Henry James Pitrey and Lee Pearl Pitrey and lived in Port Arcres the majority of his life. He recently relocated to Oregon to live near his son and his family. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Acres and attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. John served the US Navy from 1969 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1973. While in the Navy, John worked as an Air Traffic Controller, which he continued by working for the FAA and at commercial airports including Lake Front Airport New Orleans, Hobby Airport in Houston and International Airport in San Antonio, Texas. John retired from Exxon Mobil after 22 years of service.
John loved fishing, traveling, woodwork, and motorcycle riding, and most of all loved spoiling his granddaughter, Pearl. John married his wife,Ramona T. Pitrey in 1974, in San Diego, Texas.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. and Lee Pearl Pitrey and his brother, David A. Pitrey. He is survived by his wife, Ramona from Springfield, OR; and his son, Robert (Jennifer) Pitrey of Eugene, OR; his sister, Nancy Lee (Charles) Heider, of Port Neches, TX; brothers-in-law, Noe (Rosa) Trevino of Harlingen, TX., Fernando (Elva) Trevino of San Diego, TX and Ignacio (Mindy) Trevino of Corpus Christi, TX.; sister-in-law, Jane Trevino of Krum, TX; grandchildren, Pearl Santos Pitrey, Griffin, and Molly Maguire of Eugene, OR; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018, at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church; 6412 Garnet Ave., Port Acres, TX.
