At about 12:25 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Port Arthur Police Department responded to a shooting at 1600 Ninth Street in Port Arthur. Officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound in the 800 block of Stilwell Boulevard, according to a press release from the Port Arthur Police Department.
During the investigation officers learned the victim went to the house at 1600 Ninth St. where he was confronted by two men. One of the men produced a handgun and fired a single shot at the victim.
The victim was struck in the upper thigh area. Both suspects entered a black passenger car and left the area. The victim stumbled away and was found by officers at the Stilwell Avenue location.
The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The victim was treated and released from the hospital shortly thereafter. The victim was uncooperative with Port Arthur Police Department investigators.
A man who said he was the victim talked with The Port Arthur News on Sunday and said he was cooperative with police, that the suspects had fired six shots — not one — at him and that he may file charges in the case.
Port Arthur Police Department will continue to investigate this incident.
