Bobby Windle Droddy

Bobby Windle Droddy, 86, of Groves, Texas passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.

He was born on August 10, 1931 to his parents, Valentine Coleman “V.C.” Droddy and Annie Florence Fontenot Droddy in Port Arthur, Texas. Bobby has been a lifelong resident of the area. He served in the Texas National Guard for several years. Bobby retired from Texaco/Star Enterprise as head dockman after 44 years of service. He owned and operated Bobby’s License Service & Taxes, and he was a shrimper. Bobby was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 3rd degree member of the Groves Knights of Columbus Council #3491.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Wendell Droddy and his daughter, Jodi L. LeJunie.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Alberta LaBure Droddy of Groves, his four sons, Winston Droddy and wife, Tracy of Groves, Ritchie Droddy and wife, Susan of Groves, Reagan Droddy and wife, Christina of Port Arthur, Rhyan Droddy and wife, Amber of Spring, Texas, His six daughters, Vickie Droddy Crochet and husband, David of Hemphill, Donna Falcon and husband, Leroy of Groves, Bobbie Lynn Barnett and husband, Wayne of Bridge City, DeAnne Droddy of Groves, Terry Caillier and husband, Tim of Marshall, Kelli Bloudoin of Groves along with two grandsons that they raised as their own, Keven Droddy and Seth Droddy.

He also leaves to cherish his memory, 27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren as well as his sister-in-law, Lucille LaBure of Port Arthur.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
