NEDERLAND — Abbey Montalvo totaled 32 digs, and Destyn Miguez made sure Montalvo’s work didn’t go for naught.
Miguez had two aces in serving the final four points of Nederland’s five-set volleyball victory over Hardin-Jefferson on Tuesday. Scores were 10-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17, 15-11 in the Bulldogs’ favor.
Miguez finished with six aces, while Montalvo added four aces and five kills to her busy night. Meg Sheppard totaled nine kills, Hannah Hickey added seven kills and four blocks, and Peyton Smith totaled two aces and 12 digs for the Bulldogs.
Nederland (6-1) will compete in the Dickinson tournament starting Thursday at 11 a.m. against Alvin.

West Brook 3, PNG 0
PORT NECHES — Kaitlyn Gil stayed active on the defensive end, but West Brook proved too much for Port Neches-Groves (6-3), taking a 25-18, 25-23, 25-20 win.
Libbie LeJeune led PNG with 12 kills, Rachel Hammersmith finished with 18 assists, Bayja Newby dug 10 and Gil totaled eight kills.
The Indians begin play in the Dickinson tournament Thursday against Alvin Shadow Creek.

LCM 3, Memorial 0
LITTLE CYPRESS — Port Arthur Memorial (6-4) was swept 25-16, 25-17, 25-21 by Little Cypress-Mauriceville in a match that was moved from Port Arthur.

Spurger 3, Bob Hope 0
SPURGER — A sweep evened Bob Hope’s record at 3-3 on Tuesday.
Spurger won 25-20, 25-22, 25-20, but no details were available. Bob Hope will host Hardin-Jefferson on Friday.
Bob Hope’s JV team improved to 3-0 after beating Spurger in two sets.

Also Tuesday: Kelly swept Sabine Pass in three sets.
