Rose ‘Rosie’ Mary Gothia

Rose ‘Rosie” Mary Gothia, 96, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

Rosie was born on March 1, 1921 in Port Arthur to parents Mattie (LeBlanc) and Ben V. Gomez. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and a member of St. James Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Rosie worked at Murphy’s Cake Shop as a cake decorator. She also worked as a school crossing guard with Port Arthur PD. Rose enjoyed crocheting hats for the Seaman Center, playing cards, going to the casinos, working in her yard, and watching the Astros play. Rosie was a loving person who loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Anthony Gothia; her son, Dale Anthony Gothia; her daughter, Bobbie Jean Gothia Hebert; her brothers, Thomas Gomez, Ben Gomez; her sisters, Violet Girrouard and Blanche Resch.

Rosie is survived by her son, Thomas Gothia and wife, Deborah of Crystal Beach; her daughter, Cindy Gothia-Vallet and husband, C. O. of Orange and daughter in law, Patty Gothia of  Crystal Beach. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 11 AM until 12:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with graveside service held at 1 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
