Homer Willis Sr.

Homer Willis Sr., of Port Arthur, Texas died Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, TX.  A native of Abbeville, Louisiana; he was a resident of Port Arthur for 72 years.

A member of St. John Baptist Church, Homer served as a deacon.  Homer served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines.  He retired from Texaco, Inc. with 40 years of service.  Homer was also the owner of Homer’s Garage in El Vista.

Homer is preceded in death by his parents; sister, brothers, his wife Rosie Willis, and daughter, Mary Ann Willis.  He is survived by his three children, Homer Willis Jr., John A. Willis (Pamela), and Barbara Ann Hatch, all of Port Arthur, TX; three grandchildren, Sharlene R. Hatch of Port Arthur, TX, John A. Willis Jr. of Tempe, AZ, and JaMall A. Willis of Magnolia, TX; nieces Ebertha Broussard of Port Arthur, TX; Daisy Brookshire (Charles) of Dallas, TX, nephews, Rev. Claude Comeaux Jr. (Shirley) and Kerry Broussard all of Port Arthur, TX, great niece Shalanda Broussard-Allen and a host relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. John Baptist Church, 801 Grannis Avenue.  Viewing is from 9 a.m. until service time.  Reverend Mark Bowden will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
