Georgiana Keller Champs

Georgiana Keller Champs, 81, of Port Arthur passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood, Texas.  A native of Marksville, Louisiana, she was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur.  Mrs. Champs was a 1960 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School.  She completed a year of studies at Tuskegee Institute.  Georgiana excelled in sports, including women’s basketball, softball, and a state champion in track.  She was coached by the legendary Barbara Jacket.  She was also a founder of the Charmetts Civic and Social Club.

Mrs. Champs will be remembered as an activist, humanitarian, role model, mentor and beacon of life and love to her son, family, friends, and community.

She leaves to cherish her son King Semiean of New Orleans, LA; grandson Logan Semiean of New Orleans, LA; sister Gladys Andrews of Houston, TX; nieces, Tonja Voorhies, Nikki Keller, Louis Reed and June Keller all of Port Arthur, TX, Jodene Andrews Rogers and Stephanie Pinheiro of Houston, TX; nephews, Reo Keller, Jr., Herbert Keller, Craig Johnson of Port Arthur, TX, Byron Keller, Melvin Andrews of Houston, TX and Jaygould Keller of Atlanta, GA; devoted friend Frank Hector; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her siblings Mary Ella Keller, Maggie Keller, Reo Keller, Sr., Alton Keller, Forrest Keller, Sr. and Melvin Keller.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Shilo Baptist Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
