Duland Marie Broussard peacefully departed this life on Sunday, June 25, 2017. Marie was born on November 13, 1922, in Kaplan, Louisiana. She was the only child of Theophile DeBlanc and Lelia Vice DeBlanc. Although she was an only child, she had numerous cousins who were like her sisters and brothers and she spoke often of a happy childhood with so many cousins. She married Clifton Broussard in 1937 and they moved to Port Arthur, Texas. They were blessed with three children, Carroll, Lou Ida and June. After Clifton died at age 64, Marie was left a widow and faced many health issues but she was strong and knew she was needed. She dedicated the rest of her life to the loving care of her children and grandchildren and she was a most special love of their lives. She was a lifelong Catholic. She was baptized at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kaplan, Louisiana and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, Texas.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Clifton. Her life will be celebrated by her son and daughter-in-law Carroll and Pat Broussard of Kerrville; her daughter and son-in-law Lou Ida and Calvin Rising, Jr. of Port Neches; her daughter June Broussard Williams and Roger Ward of Port Arthur; and her half-brother Louis DeBlanc of Kaplan, La.
She was a special Grandma to her grandchildren and was so proud of them.
