Dr. Gus Joseph Washington Jr., 55 a native of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on Friday June 16, 2017. Gus was born to the late Gus and Betty Washington on April 29th, 1962. 

Gus was a proud graduate of the 1980 class of Abraham Lincoln High School.  He attended Prairie View A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Animal Science Degree. He then went on to obtain a Veterinary of Medicine doctorate degree from Tuskegee University, thus fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a Veterinarian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Betty Washington.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his brother, Kevin (Pamela) Washington of Manassas Park, Virginia; sister Cassandra (Craig) Washington Johnson of Houston, TX; two nephews Mark Washington and Brayden Johnson.  Aunts and Uncles Verlis (Curtis) Clark of Port Arthur, Texas, Delores (Lee) Esprit of Xenia, Ohio, Geneva (Nelson) Martin of Los Angeles, Ca, Hilda Sam of St. Martinville, La and Cecilia Gregg of Hitchcock, TX, close friends Clarence Rocky Augustine, Carey Augustine, Mark Twain Lewis, Clinton Lewis, Samuel Joseph Jr. and Jessie Davis as well as a host of cousins, friends and relatives.   

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday June 24, 2017 at Sacred Heart/St. Mary’s Parish Church with a viewing at 8:00 am until service time.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
