Frances Guidry Travis, 93, of Port Arthur passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 21, 1923 to her parents, Jessie E. Snowe Guidry and Allen Guidry.  Frances was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Frances was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Port Arthur, where she taught Bible Study and visited members weekly. She taught Bible study at a local mission for years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, W. A. Guidry, her daughter, Carol Lynne Stefflen and her loving husband, Oscar M. Travis.

Frances is survived by her son, John Allen Travis of Austin, Texas, two grandchildren, Michelle Carter and her husband, Adam of Port Neches, Michael Stefflen of Houston, Texas, two great grandchildren, Julia Carter Gros (Roman) and Jesse Carter.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 24, 2016 from 1:00 PM till service time at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday with Dr. Phil Sigman, officiating at Clayton Thompson. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
