UPDATE: Police release name of teen shooting victim

Port Arthur Police have identified James Arceneaux Jr., 17, as the victim of a fatal shooting over the weekend.

Arceneaux died on Monday, according to information from the city of Port Arthur.

An autopsy is scheduled and is expected to shed more light into the deadly incident.

A city official could not release suspect information or the number of suspects but said “multiple shots were fired from multiple sources.”

Port Arthur police responded to a call of a shooting around 2 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Liberty Avenue.
According to a press release issued by the police department, when officers got to the location they found a 17-year-old male shot in his upper body. Port Arthur fire personnel along with Acadian EMS personnel treated the teen and transported him to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
The victim was originally listed in critical condition but was later placed on life-support.
