Lamar’s John tops seed time in steeplechase

AUSTIN – Jannika John continued Lamar track and field’s time at the NCAA West Preliminaries with a better place than her seeded time Friday night when she took 29th at the meet, hosted by the University of Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

John – who entered the meet seeded 36th – ran the women’s 3,000-meter steeple chase with a 10:47.12 time, which landed her in the 29th spot in the rankings, seven spots better than her seed. Only the top 12 competitors from the prelims are able to advance.
