MHS GIRLS TAKE THREE EVENTS IN AREAS

MONT BELVIEU — Port Arthur Memorial’s young girls’ 4×100-meter relay team never ceases to amaze.

Aniya Duhon, Zykirra Carrabas, Coreyanna Gorrer and Capri Wilson ran 47.5 seconds to come away with the victory in the 5A Region III area meet at Barbers Hill High on Thursday. The team includes three freshmen and one sophomore.

Three of the four helped make up the 4×200 team that won as well. Gorrer ran the first leg, with Carrabas following, then Ayala Stevens and Wilson closed it out.

Millicent Neveu won the 300-meter hurdles in 46.2 seconds for Memorial.

The Titans had a pair of second-place finishes. Jamiyah Dixon took silver in the triple jump (36 feet, 6 inches) and Wilson was second in the 100-meter dash. Nyreonna Smith came in fourth in the 400 and Kennedi Lofton was fifth in the discus.

No other local results were reported as of late Thursday.

The 5A Region III meet will be held April 28-29 at Turner Stadium in Humble.
