MONTGOMERY — The Lamar Cardinals have their work cut out for them as they look to capture their fifth straight Southland Conference women’s golf title.

The Cardinals are in fifth place, 17 strokes behind front-running Houston Baptist heading into today’s final round at the Woodforest Golf Club.

LU’s Olivia Le Roux, who started the day tied for third place, is tied for sixth after a 4-over-par 75 on Tuesday put her at 5-over 147 for 36 holes. Le Roux is one stroke ahead of teammate Elodie Chapelet, who also had a 75 on Tuesday, to put her in a tie for ninth at 6-over-148 heading into Wednesday.

Wenny Chang was the third Cardinal to post a 75 on Tuesday. The defending conference champion is in sole possession of 20th place at 10-over 152. LU’s Felicia Sauceda shot a 76 on Tuesday, to put her in a tie for 21st in the 40-player field at 11-over 153.
