THREE SEAHAWKS SIGNING TODAY

Basketball standout John Comeaux and softball players Savana Guidry and Kayla Sheridan will sign letters of intent today as the spring signing season opens.

Comeaux is capping an outstanding one-year junior college career by committing to Stephen F. Austin. Guidry, of Nederland, will play for Lamar next spring, while Sheridan is headed to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Comeaux, who graduated from Ozen last year, was the fourth-leading scorer in NJCAA Region XIV this season with 19.8 points per game. The point guard shot 44 percent from the field (31.7 percent from three-point range) and was a 75.8 percent foul shooter.

Guidry was named NJCAA Player of the Week on March 24 after batting .708 and stealing seven bases in a six-game span. She had three triples, eight doubles and seven stolen bases. Guidry, who started her career at Houston Baptist, leads the South Zone in hitting at .497 and has driven in 32 runs.

Sheridan, a utility player, hits .426 and has driven in 26 runs. She’s second on the team to Guidry’s 38 stolen bases with 32 and second to Guidry’s 87 hits with 80. Sheridan leads the team with 23 doubles.
