Irene Wagner Garrison, 96, of Port Arthur passed away on Tuesday, March7, 2017 in Port Arthur.

She was born on October 22, 1920 to Emma Wagner and Gerhardt Wagner in Port Arthur, Texas. Irene graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Port Arthur Business College. She and her husband, Red opened Garrison’s Flowers in 1946, together they owned and operated the business for over 55 years, their daughter, Julie runs the business at its original location on Procter Street. Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Al, Eric, Eddie, August, Winnie, Millie and Jonnie, her son, Jud and her husband, “Red”.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Julie of Port Arthur, her son, Mike and his wife, Katy of Nederland, two grandchildren, Shelby and wife, Seneca and Keaton and husband, Aaron, five great grandchildren, Hannah, Izakk, Emilee, Ryann and Luke, her sister, Ruth  of Polusbo, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Irene’s life will be at 11:00 AM Friday with Rev. Timothy Dinger, officiating. Private Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Garrison, Shelby Avant, Aaron Davis, Izakk Whitman and Willard Flowers.
