PNG WINS 1, DROPS 1

BRENHAM — Port Neches-Groves collected 10 hits in four innings, and Kaitlyn Boudreaux homered as the Indians defeated Flour Bluff 9-1 in the first of two Saturday games at the Brenham Cubette Lead-Off Classic.

Boudreaux drove in two runs on the homer and scored two runs of her own. It was her only hit of the game.

Rachel Hammersmith went 2 for 3 with two runs and stole two bases. Callie Jourdan also scored two runs and stole a base. Hannah Denman and Alexis LaBure each doubled.

Britni Hunt struck out four and held Flour Bluff to two hits.

Wylie then scored a 5-2 win over PNG in six innings. Wylie had three runs in the first and two in the fifth, while PNG (4-3) scored a run each in the first and fourth innings.

Jourdan went 2 for 3, and LaBure, Denman and Boudreaux each added a hit. Hammersmith walked twice, scored a run and stole a base.

LaBure struck out two in the loss.
