A 13-year-old is in the hospital after being struck by a car while trying to cross Memorial Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
According to Port Arthur spokesperson Larisa Carptener, Thursday, at approximately 2:57 p.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Memorial Boulevard in reference to an auto/pedestrian accident. Officers arrived to investigate, and it was discovered that a 13-year-old Port Arthur resident was attempting to cross Memorial Boulevard while it was unsafe to do so.  The 13-year-old was struck by the side mirror of a vehicle traveling southbound.  The 13-year-old was conscious and alert, but according to EMS, his condition remains unknown.

The 13-year-old was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. No arrests have been made. This case remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division.
