A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted Otis John Babino Jr. for the Dec. 17 murder of Jeffrey Richardson.

The indictment was handed down Wednesday.

Richardson, 31, was found shot to death at his home at Timber Creek Apartments, 3605 Jimmy Johnson Blvd.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Babino was at the murder scene and later made a statement to his aunt about the shooting.

The affidavit states Richardson was shot with a .380 caliber firearm in his chest.

The document also stated a possible motive; a retaliation for a crime against Babino.

Babino was arrested within 24 hours of the homicide. He is being held without bond, according to archive information.
