PNG SOFTBALL REGISTRATION ONGOING

Registration for the PNG Softball League is open.

Sign-ups will be held at the purple concession stand behind the library Jan. 14 and 21 from 2-4 p.m. Registration is $100 for the first participant and $65 for each additional participant in the same household.

All new players each must have a copy of her birth certificate. No exceptions will be made.

The league is open to girls ages 4-14 from Port Neches, Groves, Port Arthur, Port Acres and Bridge City.

Registration closes Jan. 25. Tryouts will be held Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. Make-up tryouts are Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.

 

UPWARD SOCCER ENTERING THIRD SEASON

Players may register for season 3 of Upward Soccer at Calvary Baptist Port Acres, 2208 Canal St., through Feb. 27.

Early registration is $58 per child through Jan. 30. After that, it’s $70. Soccer shorts are available for $16 each.

Each player must attend an evaluation Jan. 28 or Feb. 11 from 8 a.m.-noon. Ages for players are 4 years through eighth grade, and the league is open to boys and girls. Reversible game jerseys are provided in each player kit. Cleats are recommended but not required.

Practices begin March 6, with games starting March 11.
