Mrs. Oleitha Mae Chaney

Mrs. Oleitha Mae Chaney of Port Arthur peacefully departed this earthly life Sunday morning at her home.  A native of New Iberia, Louisiana, she resided in Port Arthur for 66 years and was employed by Port Arthur ISD for 20 years.  She was a dedicated member of New St. John Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Alphamell Circle, Ladies of the Unique Union as well as several other affiliations within the community.

Survivors include: daughters Beverly Chaney Bowden, Wendell Chaney Pittman (Spear) of Houston, TX; sons Phillip M. Chaney and Donald K. Chaney of Port Arthur, TX; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren all of Houston, TX; also special relatives and a host of devoted friends.

A visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at New St. John Baptist Church.  Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Claude Comeaux officiating.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
