The Southland Conference honored Lamar guard Joey Frenchwood as its men’s basketball player of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Frenchwood has been on an assist tear the past two games. He garnered 12 of them on Dec. 19 in an 82-65 home win over Liberty (Va.), and finished with 13 last Wednesday in a 126-75 rout of Arlington Baptist College. Frenchwood achieved a double-double in both games with 10 and 11 points, respectively.

More than half of Frenchwood’s points in the two games came at the free-throw line. He shot 11 for 15 in free throws.
