BPD names Mid-County man who was shot during robbery

BEAUMONT — Beaumont Police have released the name of a 20-year-old Mid-County man who was found shot to death during an attempted aggravated robbery.

He has been identified as Joseph Summers.

Officers responded to a home in the 2000 block of Longfellow Drive shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday in reference to a shooting victim. Once there they found a deceased 20-year-old man in the front of the home. A second person, also 20-years-old, was found inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a press release from the Beaumont Police Department.

The initial investigation showed there had been an attempted aggravated robbery. The second person was sent to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont in critical condition.

Police have reports there may have been another person involved that left in a truck.
